 Few names in the mountaineering world conjure more recognition and respect than that of Sir Chris Bonington. One of the first "professional" climbers, Bonington capitalized on his exceptional climbing skill to forge a career as a writer and photographer of the mountain milieu. His leadership skills formed as an army officer served him well as leader of some of the last great Himalayan expeditions, most notably the South West face of Everest.
His exploits, adventures and close calls are legendary, and now, in his seventies, he still prefers to climb, rather than watch films.Bonington will be appearing at the Taos Center for the Arts on Saturday, October 6, 2007. Showtime is 8:00 pm. |
